Presentation of “The Royal Tour” Program
As part of the of the Ministry of Tourism comprehensive strategy known as "Mexico, the Place You Thought You Knew," the program “The Royal Tour” (The Tourist Route, or La Ruta Turistica in Spanish) was presented for the first time on September 22, a program where President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa and journalist Peter Greenberg, world-wide recognized travel specialist, toured the iconic tourist destinations of our country.
The 57-minute program premiered Thursday, September 22 on the American network, PBS (Public Broadcasting Service).
Guided by President Felipe Calderon himself, the program allowed the public to become acquainted with the abundance and richness of tourist attractions found in several states of Mexico: Baja California Sur, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Jalisco, Michoacan, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosi and Yucatan.
The fundamental objective of this initiative is to strengthen the promotion abroad of Mexico tourism, being that one of the priorities of this administration is precisely to invigorate the tourist industry and thus generate an important economic apportionment for Mexicans.
“The Royal Tour” program is within the framework of this “2011- Year of Tourism in Mexico”. It is also part of the activities of the National Agreement for Tourism that President Felipe Calderon himself signed this past February 28 and which seeks to position Mexico among the top five worldwide tourist destinations for 2018.
